We are almost ready to invite you to register for the 30th annual Congress of the World Muscle Society, WMS 2025. The Congress will take place in Vienna, Austria. Registration will open very soon for both in person and virtual delegates. All in-person delegates will also have access to the virtual platform.
Before you start your registration for the WMS 2025, please read these guidelines:
During the registration process, you will be asked to select your attendance type (in person or virtual). We base the organisation of the Congress on the number of people registered to attend. Of course, if your plans change, we will do our best to accommodate you. If you need to change your attendance type, you can do so by emailing [email protected]. Please see the Key Dates and Deadlines for more information. Please read the full Terms & Conditions here.
Important: You need to register before you submit an abstract. You will receive an abstract submission link in your confirmation email.
For abstracts with multiple authors, only the presenting author needs to complete the conflict of interest declaration. Other authors on the same paper are not required to submit this declaration.
WMS 2025 sessions will be streamed from the Congress venue in Vienna, and e-posters will be shared virtually. Industry symposia will be available online and on demand.
We will send you your access credentials for the virtual platform prior to the Congress that begins on Tuesday, 7th October. Most of the live-streamed sessions will be available online on the virtual platform for up to three months following the Congress and then transferred to the WMS website where WMS members will have ongoing access.
We continue to work hard to design an inclusive, engaging event for all our attendees.
If you want to benefit from member discounts (see below), please make sure your WMS Membership is active (and will be active for the duration of the Congress) before proceeding with your registration. You can do this by logging into your account on the WMS website here. You will have the option to renew your membership during your Congress registration process. Your Congress registration type (standard, student, industry) must match your type of WMS Membership.
WMS 2025 cannot accept registration applications from individual patient parents/relatives or other members of the public. However, we do offer a specific registration ticket option for Patient Advocacy Groups. This package is limited to a maximum of up to three registration tickets (GBP280 per ticket) for your organisation's scientific representatives (an increase from two for the WMS 2024) and includes the option of a dedicated table (GBP150) in the exhibition area, a quarter-page advert, and a pre and post-Congress delegate registration list. Engage with delegates, raise awareness, and gain visibility by being showcased alongside exhibitors in the Congress floorplan, virtual portal, and app. Act fast - see the Key Dates and Deadlines for when this registration package will close. Join us to make an impact.
Student registrations
Open to medical students, trainee doctors pursuing primary specialities, PhD students, postdocs, MSc students, or equivalent roles. Delegates should have no direct interest/shares in pharmaceutical companies or be primarily employed by a profit-making organisation (less than 50% employment).
Non-member students need to provide a scan of a valid student ID and a letter from their course supervisor confirming their ongoing student project or status. This letter, ideally in English, should specify the student's status (Undergraduate, basic or medical student, Master's, PhD student, resident in training, or postdoc) and the duration of this status. If the letter is not in English, please underline important keywords. During registration, you'll upload these documents. For any clarification regarding your student status, contact Prof. Laurent Servais at [email protected].
Industry registrations
Relevant for delegates in the pharmaceutical and related industry sectors. By selecting this registration type, you are stating that you have direct interest/shares in a pharmaceutical company or are more than 50% employed by a profit-making organisation.
Please note that as with previous annual Congresses, member and non-member industry registrations for WMS 2025 will be capped. In response to feedback from WMS 2024, we have increased the industry cap from 20% to 30% of overall registrations available. Sponsor and exhibitor package tickets are included in this 30%.
Non-WMS 2025 sponsoring companies can register up to a maximum of two in-person attendees. It is the responsibility of each global organisation to manage their limit globally and to instruct their staff to use their business e-mail address when registering. If more than two people from the same company register, the additional registrations made after the first two will either be changed to virtual tickets or refunded, with a 20% administrative fee.
The purpose of this cap is to ensure that the Congress remains an open and welcoming forum where scientific and educational curiosity can flourish, the discussion is dynamic, and new collaboration networks are born.
To submit an abstract from a sponsoring, exhibiting or other industry organisation, the presenter’s registration must be from within those organisations' global allocated registration ticket allowance.
To manage the 30% cap, the organisers have set registration limits per sponsorship item. If you can see your organisation is a confirmed sponsor on our sponsor’s page, but if you are not sure who the global coordinator is, please contact the organisers.
There is no limit on registrations for virtual attendance for those from the pharmaceutical and related industries. We will monitor and review the situation regularly to make sure that this industry attendance opportunity across all ticket types is being used fairly, and by a wide selection of industry partners and attendees, rather than dominated by a select few.
WMS member/non-member registration (according to WMS Membership status) applies to delegates who:
Sponsor/exhibitor registrations
Once again for WMS 2025, there will be no group registration for exhibitors, this means that each person who will be attending will have to be registered individually by the group contact.
Sponsor and exhibitor tickets provide the same level of access to Congress sessions and virtual platform features as delegate Congress tickets.
Sponsorship tickets for HCPs do not require allocation from your quotas. These professionals should register as non-industry delegates using their academic or organisational email to undergo the standard vetting processes. If required, for sponsorship purposes, invoices can be amended for settlement on behalf of your organisation.
Agency registrations/registering on behalf of someone else
Group registrations are no longer available; each individual needs to be registered separately. However, agencies can assist by completing and submitting registrations on behalf of delegates. During registration, you can indicate if you're registering on behalf of someone else and provide your agency's name. The process remains simple and familiar. You can still pay for the person you're registering. If your agency cannot cover the costs for networking dinners, receptions or group activities, please notify the delegate and the registration manager, Semone at [email protected]. She will then send the delegate an email that will allow them to register and pay for their own functions for the Congress.
Italian registrations
For assistance with processing the required documentation for the Italian Ministry of Health please contact: Barbara Mantegazza, Atlante Viaggi Italia Srl, via Bandello 1 (ang. Corso Magenta), 20123 Milano, e-mail: [email protected], web: www.atlanteviaggi.com
Registered delegates who are unable to attend the Congress must forward a written cancellation (by email) to the WMS Congress Registration Manager.
Refunds of the registration fee (minus 20% for administration costs) and optional social activities will be granted if notification of cancellation reaches the Secretariat in writing on or before 1st August 2025. After this date, cancellations will not be refunded. Refunds will be processed after the Congress. No refunds will be granted for delegates who simply don't attend.
Name changes on any registration will be charged an admin fee as it creates an entirely new registration.

This means delegates based in the EU will be charged both UK VAT (20%) and the VAT rate of their country of residence.
Although the WMS Congress is taking place in Vienna, Austria, VAT on virtual tickets is determined by the location of WMS Congress Ltd, not the event venue.

We do not offer a group registration. Each individual attending needs to be registered separately. However, agencies can assist by completing and submitting registrations on behalf of attendees.

From the 1st January 2025, new EU VAT rules apply to virtual event tickets. Previously, the UK and EU had aligned VAT rules for live online events, but the EU has now introduced changes that impact VAT charges based on the ticket holder’s location.
WMS Congress Ltd is a UK-based company, and under UK VAT law:
This means delegates based in the EU will be charged both UK VAT (20%) and the VAT rate of their country of residence.
Although the WMS Congress is taking place in Vienna, Austria, VAT on virtual tickets is determined by the location of WMS Congress Ltd, not the event venue.
Under UK VAT law, when determining if UK VAT should be charged on our in-person admission fees for events such as the Congress, we have to consider the VAT place of supply rules. The place of supply rules determine where a supply takes place for VAT purposes and therefore if UK VAT or VAT in another jurisdiction should be charged.
There are general rules for supplies to business and non-business consumers as well as a number of exceptions to the general rule. The supply of admission to an in-person event like our Congress falls under one of the exceptions to the general rule. The exception to the general rule states that the place of supply is where the event is taking place irrespective of whether you are a business or a non-business customer. Therefore if the event was to be physically held in the UK, UK VAT would be charged on the entry ticket at the applicable rate.
If the event is held outside of the UK, whether foreign VAT is charged will depend on the specific rules for that country. For an in-person event held in Austria, Austrian VAT is due at the applicable rate on all (both business and non-business customers) in-person tickets.
The presenting author must be registered for the congress in order to be able to submit an abstract. Only the presenting author can be the submitter of an abstract.
An abstract submitted by someone who is not the presenter will be refused.
For the full list of guidelines, please visit the Abstracts page of our website. If your submitted abstract has been selected for an oral/poster presentation you are not entitled to complimentary registration.
If you have recently applied for or renewed your WMS Membership but the start date is next month, you can still register for the Congress. All you need is your membership number which is mentioned on your payment receipt and your membership expiry date. All that matters is that you have an application/renewal in progress at the time of registration and that it will be current at the time of the Congress.
Please visit our Membership FAQ page for additional useful membership information.
The WMS provides grants of up to £1,000 to assist WMS member attending the Congress in person who have costs associated with their own care or the care of their dependent(s) during the Congress.
For more information about the caregiver grant, including how to apply, please visit the caregiver grant page of our website.
Yes, you are welcome to attend the Pre-Congress Teaching Course without attending the full Congress, but we would strongly encourage you to attend the Congress too.
If you have financial barriers to attending the Congress, please look at the fellowships page of our website and see whether financial support might be available to you.
We have published full details of our fees on the Registration page of our website.
Please be aware that we offer early bird prices for people who book before 5th June 2025.
Unfortunately we can't let you in unless you have pre-registered for the Congress and/ or the Pre-Congress Teaching Course.
It is possible to register for virtual attendance during the Congress, but it may take up to 12 hours for us to send you your virtual platform access credentials.
If you have registered for the Pre-Congress Teaching Course then morning and afternoon refreshment breaks on both days and lunch on Monday are included in your ticket. If you have registered for the course dinner on Monday then that is also included.
For the Congress, morning (on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and afternoon (on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) refreshment breaks and lunch (on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) are included in your ticket. If you have registered separately for the Networking Reception, Group Activity Reception and Networking Dinner then food is also included in those tickets.
If we have to cancel or reschedule the Congress, we will issue refunds in line with our terms and conditions. These are available to view on the registration page of our website.
If you would like to change your attendance type from in-person to virtual (or virtual to in-person), you can make that request in writing by emailing [email protected] before 1st September 2025.
Registrations for the Pre-Congress Teaching Course are capped at 100. This is to make sure all delegates are able to get the most out of the sessions and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. There is no cap on virtual registrations.
We are not closing Congress registrations before the Congress opens this year. Delegates attending both in person and virtually can continue to register throughout the event.
It is worth noting that our networking activities fill up quickly, so if you want to book these as part of your registration, we recommend registering early to avoid disappointment.
If you're registering in the 48 hours ahead of the meeting or during the meeting, please expect a minimum 12-hour delay in receiving your access credentials. This means you might miss some of the live-streamed sessions.
The registration desk will be open as follows (local time):
Monday: Pre-Congress Teaching Course 07:30-19:00
Tuesday: Pre-Congress Teaching Course 07:15-11:00, Congress 14:30-18:00

Yes please. All attendees must wear their name badge for all Congress sessions including social events.
This is so that we know you are part of the event, but your name badge also contains important information for the organisers such as dietary requirements, membership status and social events booked.
To qualify for CME points, we will need to scan you into each scientific session using the QR code on your badge.
If you lose your badge, please visit the registration desk where we can help you print a new one.
We are working with the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) to obtain accreditation for the Pre-Congress Teaching Course and the Congress. More information is available on the Certificate of Attendance page of our website.
We are working with the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) to obtain accreditation for the teaching course and the main congress. If approved, each medical specialist should claim only those credits they spent in educational activities.
Once the Congress closes, we will send you a link to the Congress evaluation survey. Your certificate of attendance will be available once you have completed the evaluation. If you need a personalised CME points certificate, let us know and we can provide one.
